Product details
The book aims to outline pragmatic yet concrete pathways necessary to reduce global CO2 emissions in order to achieve the 2-degree climate target, from a neutral and independent perspective. It presents the temporal development of key parameters from 1970 to 2013 for all world regions and all G-20 countries, based on existing foundational data (population, gross domestic consumption, gross domestic product at purchasing power parity, and CO2 emissions). The parameters are extrapolated to 2030, and the allowable emissions are projected until 2050, taking into account trends, local factors, and the requirements of the 2°C climate goal. Achieving this minimum target is a global challenge, but it is not impossible. Energy decision-makers should be able to draw their own conclusions from the presented facts and act accordingly. This is fundamental to the analysis.
