The second volume of this complete edition presents Walther's central work, the Minnelieder. Not only did he see himself primarily as a Minnesänger, but the admiration of his contemporaries was also mainly directed towards his songs, in which he confidently developed the spectrum of traditional themes and forms. All approximately 80 preserved Minnelieder are presented in the original text and in a faithful prose translation, accompanied by an extensive commentary. The texts are directly derived from the manuscripts.
