Arno Stern's life and work merge into one. When asked if he is an artist or a psychologist, Arno Stern answers both questions with a decisive no. "I practice creative education," he says, "I am the inventor of this form of education. Creative education fosters personality, strengthens character, and aims for children to grow into creative, independent individuals." When asked "What does expression mean to you?" he replies: "It is the formulation of the sensations stored in the organism, which have no other language to manifest themselves." Expression, therefore, means to draw out from within and carry it outward. Arno Stern has made "expression" his research subject for 30 years and pursues it beyond the borders of his Paris studio across all continents. The three themes are education and expression.
