Egoism and competition are considered "natural" behaviors. However, there is no evidence to support this. Recent studies demonstrate the opposite. Humans are inherently selfish and lazy. They perform best under competitive pressure. This assessment of human nature is agreed upon by scientists, philosophers, entrepreneurs, politicians, and the local pub crowd, especially since Darwin's theory of survival of the fittest has been misinterpreted. Consequently, capitalism as an economic system is thought to align perfectly with human nature. Surprisingly, current research proves that this description of human nature is entirely incorrect.
