Since the issue of environmental protection has entered the societal consciousness, even among traditionally loyal population groups, there is talk of a new green capitalism that aims not only to heal the wounds of nature but also to provide a new economic boost to the prevailing economic system. However, climate change, the poisoning of oceans and drinking water resources, increasing species extinction, loss of biodiversity, and the spread of environmentally-related diseases are all caused by the very economic system that the prophets of green capitalism seek to preserve. As long as the capital-oriented exploitation of nature in the interest of a small group of owners of production means is not overcome, there can be no sustainable management of nature and its resources. The merit of this volume lies in its refusal to merely call for societal change.
