What happens to the soul during the night?
German, Alexander Solzhenitsyn, 2006Product details
The poetic Solzhenitsyn: Nature and man, gentleness and violence in the vivid language of the Nobel Prize-winning author. Between 1958 and 1963, after his release from the camp and before the first wave of repression against him, Alexander Solzhenitsyn wrote a dozen prose miniatures. Inspired by the harsh contrasts of Russian nature, these texts are full of poetry and attempt to determine the place of man in history and in the divine order of the universe. Only after his 20-year exile, upon returning to Russia, did the Nobel laureate turn back to this genre. Between 1996 and 1999, the second half of these poetic texts was created, which are now united for the first time in a German-language edition.
