Product details

In recent years, individuals who share their insights into organizational misconduct as insiders have gained widespread societal recognition as whistleblowers. Government authorities, media, and companies are striving to encourage such reports in order to utilize information about misconduct in their own ways. In light of European legal requirements, the German legislator is also obligated to quickly establish a legal framework and to regulate these processes much more precisely than before. Whistleblowing has thus become the subject of various current debates. There is a need for knowledge on this topic: what constitutes whistleblowing, how it occurs, what consequences it has, and how it is perceived in society. International and interdisciplinary research has now provided some answers to such questions. To make this research status of the German whistleblowing debate accessible, it is comprehensively and systematically explored and presented in this volume. The contributions in this volume offer a thorough preparation of the existing empirical findings and connect them with results from relevant research projects. This gives readers the opportunity to form a reliable, science-based understanding of many facets of the whistleblowing reality.
