Product details

We find ourselves 40,000 years before today on the shore of a lake. It could be located in southern Germany. Large parts of Europe are covered by glaciers during this Paleolithic era. The temperatures are so far below today's that the ice doesn't properly melt even in summer. Wild animals that are now extinct roam the landscape: saber-toothed tigers, woolly rhinoceroses, giant deer, and even mammoths. Almost as exciting as "Ice Age," this exploration book presents the development of humanity from the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods through the Bronze Age to the Celts in richly detailed, realistic panoramas. The landscape-format illustrations are accompanied by short stories about hunters, Neanderthals, Homo sapiens, shamans, lords of the manor, and rituals to summon animal spirits. Interesting zooms illustrate everything.
