Now the education debate is really getting started: For the first time, students Alma, Jamila, and Lara-Luna are speaking up. In the education debate, everyone has had their say – except for the students, who have not been asked. This has long frustrated Alma (14), Jamila (15), and Lara-Luna (16). In their book, they share how they learn for life at their school. Their subjects are called "Challenge" and "Responsibility," and in so-called learning offices, they organize their workload themselves – all within the curriculum. It’s a successful example, simple and refreshing. The three authors and their classmates are now training teachers and encouraging a shift in thinking. The three Berlin students Alma, Jamila, and Lara-Luna are calling for courage to change our schools: more independence, more responsibility, more life experiences, and more community.
