Michael Raedecker (born 1963) represents a distinctive and independent position in contemporary painting. Although he is fundamentally committed to figuration and places recognizable motifs at the center of his works, minimalist design elements define their impact. Raedecker replaces the concrete surroundings of his motifs with color. His houses, plants, or pieces of laundry exist solely within the realm of painting and image design, often imbued with a mystical atmosphere.
