Product details

She is free, open, curious, and above all, strong-willed! And firmly determined to become a painter. The young Paula Modersohn-Becker (1876-1907) initially finds her home in the artist colony of Worpswede, before discovering the artistic avant-garde in Paris and experiencing an euphoric creative phase. Just a year later, she is dead - at the age of only 31. Her work, created in complete silence, becomes a discovery. Today, the artist is considered a pioneer of modernism and is referred to as the "German Picasso." Wienand's Kleine Reihe der Künstlerbiografien focuses on significant artists of classical modernism and contemporary art. In concise and compact texts, personality and work are presented in such a lively manner that even complex relationships become easily understandable. A high-quality design makes the series an ideal gift.
