The son of the last king of Kartli and Kakheti, Giorgi XII, held important administrative positions in the final years of the Georgian kingdom. In 1803, Bagrat and his family were forcibly relocated to Russia. He was the recipient of several awards from the Russian Empire and the author of historical treatises such as "New Narrative" and "Russo-Persian War," as well as various veterinary and scientific guides, including the first Georgian-language book "Treatment of Horses and Other Animals." Prince Bagrat is also credited with the first Georgian culinary work, "The Book for Creating the Best Dishes, Candies, and Beverages," which was published in St. Petersburg in 1818.
