It recounts the great worries of the mountain dwellers during the wars and the intervening times, the illegitimate children of the maids, the high infant mortality rate after 1900, but also the intact village life, the storytellers and herbalists, all the way to the motorization and changes in the structure of the mountain village, presented vividly and insightfully in this book. The introduction to the book is by Peter Handke, who can sometimes be found in the mountain village of Greutschach.
