Everyone wants to be someone else at least once – but what if they get the chance to do so? Albert Weis had the opportunity to change his identity during his childhood. After finding himself alone in 1942, under the shadow of the terrible war, without parents and without his brother Elijah, he spent some time in the home of ethnic Germans who called him Hans and wanted him to replace their missing son. In this way, he escaped certain death. However, Albert decided to keep his identity and ran away from the German family that was about to adopt him. Many years later, while in New York attending a conference on World War II, Weis stumbles upon a "House of Remembrance and Forgetting" as he wanders the streets at night.
