Retired Commissioner Vitus Pangratz is out in the woods at night, on a photo hunt. He has a plan. He wants to make a name for himself as a nature photographer in retirement with the photo calendar "The Wild Boar at Night." But then he stumbles upon something in the woods – a gnawed hand! It actually belongs to the local youth soccer coach who has been missing for some time. Pangratz abandons his retirement plans and decides to take matters into his own hands. Together with his daughter Johanna "Jo" Coleman, a local reporter looking to give her career a boost, he embarks on a quest for clues. Soon, the whole small town is turned upside down.
