With the publication of the German version of Eurocode 7-1: Design, calculation, and dimensioning in geotechnics - Part 1: General rules as DIN EN 1997-1:2009-09 and the corresponding National Annex DIN EN 1997-1/NA:2010-12, along with the supplementary regulations in DIN EN 1054:2010-12, the comprehensive new European standard framework for safety verification in earthworks and foundation engineering is now available for application in Germany. The regulations compiled in a standards handbook replace the previous DIN 1054: 2005-01. This book presents the fundamentals and terminology of proof of performance. Where necessary, it also addresses the applicable standards and recommendations such as the terrain failure standard DIN 4084 or the earth pressure standard DIN 4085, as well as the EAB, EAU, EA-piles, and the EBGEO. The required proofs are explained and illustrated with figures.
