This book is the first comprehensive monograph on the Swiss artist Wilfrid Moser (1914-1997). It provides a representative insight into the life and work of this pioneering figure of abstract post-war art in Europe, from his early works in the 1930s to his final pastels. As a child, Wilfrid Moser spent considerable time in Venice, Vienna, and Dresden, and later traveled repeatedly through Europe and the Maghreb. He also lived in Paris for a long time, where he absorbed themes of the metropolis and integrated them into his work. Among his artistic innovations are paintings about the Paris Métro, which introduced a new type of urban iconography into painting. From today's perspective, his figurative realism also holds particular significance, as it anticipated trends in contemporary art. The importance of Moser's colorful art resin sculptures is also addressed in this book.
