Product details

In 1966, Wilfried Minks brings Roy Lichtenstein's painting "Crak!" to the stage for Peter Zadek's production of "The Robbers." A year later, he fills the stage for Zadek's production of "Measure for Measure" with red, yellow, and blue light bulbs. He became the most influential set designer in the Federal Republic and one of its most important directors. Now, he presents his autobiography. Minks vividly recounts his childhood in Bohemia and the rise of National Socialism. He shares his escape to Saxony and guides the reader through the milestones of his theater life: to Leipzig, Berlin, Stuttgart, Ulm, Bremen, and Frankfurt. In this book, readers encounter Kurt Hübner and Peter Stein, Edith Clever and Bruno Ganz, as well as his wives and children. It details how Minks gradually developed his unique approach to thinking about, designing, and directing theater.
