Will Eisner, born in 1917 as the son of Austrian immigrants in Brooklyn, significantly influenced the development of comics in the 20th century. As the father of the "Graphic Novel," he set stylistic standards for several generations of artists. One of his most famous works is The Spirit. Eisner passed away in January 2005.
