This workbook is specifically aimed at special educators, teachers, and parents who are involved in the support of developmentally delayed and disabled children. Rhythmics, particularly in relation to speech initiation and language development, is only one aspect of the holistic support for mentally disabled children through therapeutic educational practices. Speech therapy, on the other hand, occupies a special position. Today, language promotion and speech therapy are almost exclusively the responsibility of trained speech therapists and logopedists. However, since developmentally delayed and disabled children are not only linguistically impaired but are usually multiply affected, there is such a vast area of support in pre-linguistic development and speech initiation that it can hardly be managed by the logopedist alone. Collaboration between logopedists and parents is essential.
