Out of the blue, ten- and eleven-year-old sisters Erna and Liesl are sent to their uncle's farm to work as maids. The two girls quickly realize that their orderly lives are about to change. Within just a few days, they learn what was completely foreign to them until then: how to handle livestock, manage a household, and do fieldwork. They become true farmer's children. Erna, in particular, increasingly thrives in her role as a farmer. However, their father has other plans for his daughters.
