The sinful St. Pauli and an innocent love. Hamburg 1953: Fleeing from her violent stepfather, Hanna ends up in the notorious district of the city. She is attacked and manages to escape at the last moment into a brothel. The young caretaker Richard takes care of her tenderly and initially hides her in his basement apartment. Brothel owner Evke has enough worries with her dark-skinned daughter Lorelei, who has become the target of mockery in the neighborhood, but Evke is a good person, and after some hesitation, she offers Hanna a roof over her head. However, even in the economic miracle, nothing comes for free, and Hanna faces a fate as a prostitute. Then, however, she has a brilliant idea for earning a living in another way.
