This book deals with the levelized cost of electricity (LCOE) of floating offshore wind turbines. As a result of the investigations, cost reduction potentials were identified regarding the optimization of LCOE in the areas of risk minimization and associated capital cost reduction, cost reductions in the structure and installation technology, reduction of operation and maintenance measures, as well as increased energy yields through higher full-load hours and improved generator performance. The primary goal of reducing the LCOE of floating offshore wind turbines to a market value of under 7 cents/kWh appears achievable with the identified cost reduction potentials. The specifically developed reading guideline can be used to illustrate the LCOE depending on various input variables.
