Many discussions on economic ethics focus on business ethics and corporate ethics, compliance management issues, or virtuous behavior in the market. In doing so, overarching questions related to the economic system, ordoliberal rules of the game, and the relationship between market and ethics are often pushed into the background. This volume presents the most important macroeconomic approaches against the backdrop of ethical considerations, including the perspectives of economic classics like Adam Smith, critical approaches to capitalism, neoliberal concepts, ideas of the ordoliberals, and representatives of the social market economy. In light of globalization, questions of economic order and democracy, regulatory concepts, and possibilities for a solidarity-based economy are addressed.
