The book is designed as an introduction to the field of knowledge and innovation geography. Accordingly, fundamental concepts (What is knowledge? What types of spatial knowledge transfer exist?) receive the most attention. Nevertheless, the book contains numerous practical examples intended to facilitate the understanding of the largely theoretical content. Current political programs that touch on aspects of knowledge and innovation geography are also presented. These not only illustrate the relevance of the field but also show that many theoretical ideas and concepts have already been incorporated into economic policy practice and thus into economic development.
