In June 2003, Volume 1 of the working instructions for radiological diagnostics was published. It summarized the standard settings for the skeleton. In addition to this, Volume 2 of the working instructions presents the special settings for the skeleton. These working instructions comply with the requirements of the latest amendment to the regulation on protection against damage from X-rays dated June 18, 2002, Paragraph 18 (2). The authors have made an effort to summarize the essential and practice-relevant special settings for the skeleton. For this purpose, the positioning methods of radiological facilities operating in Thuringia, particularly those of the Institute for Diagnostic and Interventional Radiology at the University Hospital of Friedrich Schiller University Jena, have been taken into account.
