The goal of this book, now available in German translation, is to present applied mathematics and engineering mathematics as they are used today. The book is based on the "Scientific Computing" course at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and aims to integrate concepts and algorithms. Starting with applied linear algebra, the authors develop the methods of finite differences and finite elements, always in connection with applications in various fields of knowledge.
