Students typically only see historical sources as transcriptions. Stamps, signatures, handwritten notes, and similar visual features are absent. This results in the loss of not only important additional information but also the allure of authenticity. This booklet therefore collects 33 key sources related to the dual founding of the German state from the holdings of the Federal Archives, reproduced as high-quality facsimiles. Each source is accompanied by a clear commentary: notes on contextualization within the historical framework and transmission, as well as didactic explanations and suggestions for assignments, minimize the preparation time for lessons to a minimum.
