The booklet examines German society and the role of Germans in National Socialism against the backdrop of the latest research on the "NS Volksgemeinschaft." It focuses on the years between 1933 and 1939, which are often remembered by contemporaries as the "good years." The numerous teaching materials demonstrate that National Socialism, as a regime of power and violence, could only function because a large part of the population was willing to accept it, integrate into its structures, engage with it, and exclude those who, for ideological reasons, were deemed not to belong to the Volksgemeinschaft. The question of the motives behind this behavior is also explored. Students can thus understand the NS regime as a social practice of appropriation and exclusion.
