Das Gewicht der Freiheit
German, Florian Burkhardt, 2018Product details
In his autobiographical novel, Florian Burkhardt takes us on his quest for happiness in seemingly limitless freedom. It began in Hollywood and ended in Bern. In between, Florian constantly reinvented himself through a series of success stories. He switched environments and careers as easily as others change their shirts, living an adventurous, hyperactive life in which he nearly became a film star, only to conquer the runways of the world as an internationally sought-after top model. He walked for brands such as Dolce & Gabbana, Prada, and Gucci, and stood in front of the cameras of renowned photographers like David LaChapelle and Albert Watson. At the peak of his success, he broke away from the world of the beautiful and wealthy, retreated to Switzerland, became an internet pioneer, and rode the dot-com bubble. Everything he touched seemed to turn to gold. But then, at the age of 27, he fell ill.
