Rome in the fever of the millennium, noise, exhaust fumes, streams of tourists. The Eternal City appears to her like a single monitor displaying a thousand images simultaneously. At first, she feels little welcome. Only in the parks of Villa Borghese, in front of Caravaggio's paintings in the church of Santa Maria del Popolo, and together with the sons who come to visit her, does she find moments of happiness.
