For more than three centuries, Wolfenbüttel was the residence of the art-loving dukes of Brunswick and Lüneburg. Their motto "Parta tueri" (To preserve what has been acquired) still holds true today. The splendor of a great past is still visible in numerous magnificent buildings. Over 600 lovingly restored half-timbered houses shape the city's image today. However, the city of Lessing is by no means a museum - quite the opposite - Wolfenbüttel is a young, vibrant city, a city with flair, in short: a city worth living in.
