The frequency of surgical interventions for obesity is rising rapidly. The success of these surgical procedures depends not only on the method used but also, and particularly, on the long-term pre- and post-operative care provided by an interdisciplinary team. Many affected individuals find it difficult to implement dietary therapeutic measures. Often, the patient is left to navigate on their own, as there are no uniform behavioral guidelines following the surgeries. The author has succeeded in compiling all relevant aspects of pre- and post-operative nutritional therapy. The first part presents general rules for avoiding overweight along with specific aids for weight loss. The second part details dietary progression and behaviors after the surgery. The book is rounded off with concrete measures to prevent side effects or deficiencies.
