Product details

Ennio Morricone (*November 10, 1928) is one of the most productive and versatile composers of our time. Throughout his unparalleled career, Morricone has acquired a musical experience that encompasses all areas of 20th-century music, whether artistic or entertainment-based, in a breadth and diversity that is rarely matched by any other composer of the 20th century. His film scores have long since become part of cultural common knowledge: hardly anyone is unfamiliar with Morricone's sinister harmonica tune associated with death, nor has anyone escaped the coyote's howl, at least as a ringtone. However, few know that Morricone was an active and long-standing member of the improvisation group Nuova Consonanza, founded by Franco Evangelisti, which aimed to create new sounds, and that he wrote a significant number of compositions for the concert hall that engage with the trends of contemporary music. In 2007, Morricone, who received many honors, was awarded the Honorary Award for his lifetime achievement in Los Angeles. Here, then, is the monograph that comprehensively honors Morricone's compositional work for the first time.
