No one can accuse the poet Izzet Yasar of boring us with colorful idylls. His verses are rather sarcastic, engaging, and fresh. These are poems that are rooted in the tradition of surrealism, from a time when it was still confrontational and dared to revolt. The committed Robert Desnos finds a voice in Yasar with his 'Poésie ininterrompue', his 'poetry that knows no interruption'. Of course, Yasar knows that poetry refuses any salvation. 'Don't even start with this poem, you will regret it,' says his programmatic text, which not coincidentally bears a French title: 'Le poète raille' (the mocking poet). Yasar also tends towards mockery, starting with himself: 'What is a poem other than lying down and playing with its hair?' However, his often lengthy poems also breathe a sense of sensual joy.
