The parents of little Kara ignore the warnings of the village pastor when he announces a new misdeed of the white wolf. The gypsy Aisha gifts Kara and her brother Rupert a magical relic for protection against the wolf: the Tupilak – a doll in the shape of a bird with three human heads. According to Aisha, the white wolf is an envoy of the Wurdilak, hunting for the souls of small children. When Kara's mother discovers the Tupilak, she throws the doll into the fire to the children's horror, triggering a chain of misfortune.
