Features of the Samadhi experience are the subject of traditional texts and modern research findings. Shankara, the founder of Advaita Vedanta, developed his own views on Samadhi, meditation, and yoga. In these, spontaneity and effortlessness are central characteristics of the experience of God in the state of Samadhi. The inseparability of man and God is an identical statement made by Shankara and Meister Eckhart. Concentrative, contemplative, and objectless forms of meditation vary in their effectiveness in producing non-dualistic experiences. Comparisons of the effects of meditation and therapeutic methods yield a spectrum of specific results. As a result of an expanded consciousness, non-dualism opens up new perspectives for therapeutic action.
