Learning German - learning to read - learning to write. The two-volume textbook 'Your Start in German' is aimed at adults with little or no prior knowledge of the German language, who also want to learn or improve their reading and writing skills in the Latin script. This volume contains Part 2 of the textbook. In 10 lessons, learners enhance their writing and reading abilities through exercises of various forms, where the vocabulary from Part 1 is placed in more complex contexts. Each lesson begins with building reading expectations and concludes with a written reflection on what has been learned. Oral exercises expand and reinforce vocabulary. Aspects of spelling are appropriately addressed, and cursive writing is introduced at the end. In Part 1, learners familiarize themselves with the letters and the vocabulary needed for the subsequent writing and reading comprehension exercises using an initial sound house. The textbook is supplemented by a teacher's manual that explains the reading teaching method, the exercises, and the games. An integrative concept in which 'literacy' and 'German as a foreign language' harmoniously complement each other.
