The question of belonging is precarious for young people with a migration background. They are confronted with ethnic and gender attributions as well as national classifications. These often contradict their lived reality and self-understanding. Against this backdrop, the empirical contributions of the volume examine the orientations and forms of action of young people in biographical and youth cultural contexts. It highlights strategies of positioning in transcultural and local spaces and discusses the ambivalences in dealing with prevailing gender and ethnicity constructions.
