Product details
Two of the four national minorities in Germany have their own media in their respective minority languages: the Danish minority and the Sorbian people. While the Danish minority has access to only one daily newspaper – although it can utilize the media from neighboring Denmark – the Sorbs can rely on a comparatively large landscape of minority media. For the first time, this study examines the connection between social identity as a member of the Danish or Sorbian minority and the use of minority media. Using empirical data, the author investigates the significance of minority media for these two very different language groups and finds remarkable similarities and differences.
