From the perspective of heritage conservation, contradictions arise regarding the urgently needed shift in construction: for example, between the preservation of building substance in situ and the concept of urban mining or the circular city. At the same time, this and other concepts share a claim to heritage and concern for preservation with heritage conservation. The contributions gathered in this volume, based on the results of a student project at the Bauhaus University Weimar, explore how heritage conservation and circularity can be thought together or, in relation to their own strengths, can be considered separately. A comprehensive glossary of current terms related to this topic complements this discussion.
