Product details

In ZORN, eight people stand at turning points in their lives, their biographies intertwining for a fateful moment, becoming inextricably linked from then on. It is a single day in which each of them finds themselves in an exceptional situation that demands a decision – to tell the truth or deny it, to commit to life or death, to show strength or allow weakness. Within their own small circles, Haratischwili's characters explore what it means to no longer settle and to be consistent for once: Celia and Adam, who miss their son; the successful television producer Martha; Rafael, the terrorist hunter; the terminally ill Rula, who wants to provide a better future for her child; Oskar, who becomes the seller of the year through butter trips; and Anton and Antonia, a young couple who both struggle to find their place in the world as it is, yet ultimately make a decision as the only ones. RADIO UNIVERSE takes place on a night in August 2008 during the time of the Caucasus conflict. Private and societal crises dominate this night, where it snows in Germany in the middle of summer, and bombs suddenly fall in Georgia. Haratischwili follows six lonely figures through the night: in different locations, with different stories. And yet, they are all connected, not least thanks to Jo, the radio host, whose show seems to transcend the boundaries of place and time.
