Product details
In the summer of 1941, Elna from Sandviken embarks on a cycling trip to the Norwegian border with her pen pal from southern Sweden. The Daisy Sisters, as the girls call themselves after the American model, meet two Swedish soldiers, and the naive Elna, who cannot handle alcohol, becomes unintentionally pregnant. She will never see the father of her child again, and she reluctantly raises her daughter Eivor. Eivor, for her part, tries to run away with a young criminal as a teenager, but the adventure ends tragically. Far from her mother and stepfather, she now wants to build her own existence as a seamstress. However, things do not go as planned... A moving generational novel from Sweden about three women who want to break free from their narrow social environment and predetermined roles.
