Lass still bei dir mich liegen
German, Theodor Kramer, 2005Product details
"No one else found such an easy sound for the heaviest, no one was so oral in tone and so memorable," wrote Herta Müller about the poet Theodor Kramer, whose collections of poems she once discovered in Bucharest's antiquarian bookstores. Because he initially appeared unthreatening to the National Socialists as a poet of homeland and landscape, Kramer's books could be published without interference. It was only the protest in the "Arbeiter-Zeitung" against the appropriation of his texts by the Nazis that led to a publication ban in Germany and hindered them in Austria. This collection of love poems has been supplemented with more than twenty previously unpublished poems from his estate and a postscript by Daniela Strigl.
