A tribute to the legendary mountaineer who passed away in February 2005 at the age of 98. "True Stories" was the title of Anderl Heckmair's booklet, published in 1988, which received the award for outstanding mountain literature at the Trento Film Festival. In "Fortunately, It's Going Up," these stories are presented in an revised form. Uli Auffermann, a friend of the late climber, has added more episodes and anecdotes from the life of the first ascender of the Eiger North Face. Full of mischief and pure zest for life, the Bavarian original Heckmair humorously and vividly recounts his adventurous life: What mattered to him was the experience; he found true moments of happiness in the small and the unexpected.
