Product details

Xenophon of Athens was the first to develop a theory of the ideal leader. Throughout his work, leadership plays a central role. The principles of leadership he formulates are timeless. It always revolves around the proper exercise of power, ideal rulers, and wise commanders, as well as the triumph of expertise, education, and morality. The "Hipparchikos 'Logos'," or "On Horsemanship," is a practical treatise on the wise conduct of a cavalry commander in the service and for the benefit of the city of Athens during a time of declining power. Written around 365 BC, this work also places great emphasis on training and leadership for the creation and maintenance of discipline, obedience, morality, and identity. However, nothing succeeds for Xenophon without the gods - not even the leadership of men!.
