Since the opening of the Wall on November 9, 1989, much has changed in Germany. The structures in the new and old federal states could not continue to exist in their previous form. Adjustments and changes occurred in various areas. Therefore, a brief overview of the initial situation, the internal and external causes of the transformation process, and finally the phases of system transformation will be provided. In addition to the similarities and differences, the local impacts are also of interest.
