The work contains the empirical study on the legal reality of the appointment of defense counsel under the new law, which has been in effect since 2010, conducted by the Research Center for Law and Practice of Criminal Defense at Goethe University Frankfurt am Main for the Criminal Law Working Group in the German Bar Association. The monograph summarizes the results of a survey of approximately 3,300 defense attorneys, with 941 responses received. This is the most comprehensive study on criminal defense in the Federal Republic to date.
