The volume provides a comprehensive text and context analysis of the production, design, and reception of hybrid forms of genres, focusing on documentary and feature films. The approach to mixed forms of filmic and television-specific audiovisual texts occurs in three steps. First, the historical development of forms is elucidated through examples and theoretical discussions. Subsequently, both a content-based and pragmatic systematization of the forms is presented, along with their integration into the areas of production, text and discourse design, and reception. Finally, an empirical study on viewer behavior and the contextual embedding of three examples concludes the discussions.
