What goal does a totalitarian regime pursue in the further education of interpreters? The teaching materials published by the Reichsfachschaft for interpreting provide insight into how efforts were made to indoctrinate language and culture mediators with Nazi propaganda. This book analyzes the French editions of the language mediator study materials from the Reichsfachschaft based on the historical context and the image of France propagated in Nazi Germany. Numerous examples illustrate the extent to which the image of the neighboring country promoted by the Nazis is reflected in the study materials and the means by which French interpreters were directly and indirectly infiltrated under the pretext of conveying linguistic and cultural knowledge, thus becoming multipliers of Nazi ideology.
